An Upcycle visit:

LOUISA MADE.LINE

We are always happy to know we are not alone in our field!

Louisa MADE.LINE is a talented architect from Brussels and a really busy devil.

She is active in many fields, one of those fields is re-using her clients old cotton T-shirts and transforming them into various designs by using a special knitting technique.

One of our favorites is a very colourfull bathroom mat of 1,5m diameter and 53 reclaimed blue 100% cotton T-shirts, named SPLASH! wich was ordered by "Second Hand Second Life" design défilé Petits Riens, a charity event. The technique is a very labour intensive technique and the 'SPLASH!' production time was 72 hours. Unfortunately not very economical, but a lot of food for the soul, something we like very, very much!

She is also involved first hand with 'ZINNEKE' A socio-economic project in quartier Schaarbeek, Brussels, wich focusses on social relations in the neigborhood.

To stimulate the community, for allready years and years, a vast team of volunteers organise a parade called 'ZINNEKE PARADE' for and with locals.
The costumes are all made out of re-usable materials and the look GREAT! Because of years and years of experience they have build a huge material library full of potential interesting materials, mostly 'end of the line' industrial waste.

Their material collection grew fast and Zinneke decided to open up the doors for everybody interested and share their collection for free. The first opening and presentation towards the public was celebrated 19-12-2013 with the Vernissage Mat.OS. NICE!
